Boston is the capital and largest city in Massachusetts and was founded in 1630, by Puritan colonists from England.  The town was later named after Boston, Lincolnshire, England (United Kingdom).  During the Revolutionary War, The Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Siege of Boston all took place in and around the city. Boston is a natural destination for American History buffs. Its collection of historical sights, museums, and live performance venues all explain why the city gets 16.3 million visitors a year.  When you walk the streets of Boston history is around you everywhere.  You can explore the Revolutionary War sites along the Freedom Trail, or even search out the unusual, like the Ether Dome, where ether was first used.

In Boston, you’ll discover neighborhoods with distinct character and quaint brownstone lined streets.  Beacon Hill was founded in 1625 and its always interesting history is traceable and walkable, nearly 400 years later.

From fresh seafood to Italian cuisine, Boston has a restaurant for everyone.  Boston has excellent seafood from the New England coast. Local specialties include such traditional dishes as baked beans, cod, and clam chowder.

Though the national chain stores are beginning to crowd in, the city still has many idiosyncratic gift stores, handicrafts shops, galleries, and a growing number of independent fashion boutiques.

Perhaps Boston can be best described as a living contradiction with hip alongside the historic, skyscrapers surround colonial parks and gourmet meets pizza.

Boston is served by Logan International Airport.  Public transportation is subway, light rail, bus and taxi. Bostonians will tell visitors, “Driving is NOT recommended. Our drivers and roads are insane, and the local public-transit system offers convenient and safe access to major tourist attractions.”
