Kara DioGuardi is American Idol’s fourth and newest judge. She joins Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson on Season Eight of  reality based TV show “Idol.”  This year’s premiere took place on January 13, 2009.

Kara DioGuardi is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, record producer, and singer who has collaborated with many pop superstars including Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Enrique Iglesias, the Backstreet Boys,  Ashlee Simpson, Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Pink and others.

She has also written songs for American Idol contestants Kelly Clarkson, David Archuleta, David Cook and Katharine McPhee.

• 2007 SOCAN Award winner
• 10 BMI Pop Awards for having co-written the most performed songs on the radio

Her most recent hits include Gloria Stefani’s “Rich Girl,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Walk Away” and Celine Dion’s “Taking Chances.”

She has the credentials to judge the new contestants on this year’s American Idol competition  and she proved she was able to overcome the “Bikini Girl” incident on the Idol Finale.
