What is Cairo’s city profile?
Cairo is the capital and largest city of Egypt.
Cairo (the Triumphant City) was founded in 969 AD. Then a few years later, I showed up.
That aside, Cairo is located on the banks and islands of the Nile River in the north of Egypt right at the beginning of the Nile Delta. West of the city, in the desert, is part of the ancient necropolis of Memphis, with its pyramids, including the Great Pyramid. Cairo, Egypt, is an amazing city which is full of life and movement, and it never sleeps, there is activity neary 24 hours a day. Cairo offers a magnificent array of shopping, leisure and nightlife activities. Cairo comes alive at night, which is the best time to shop, eat delicious Middle Eastern food, or watch the world go by from a sidewalk cafe. Shopping ranges from the famous Khan el-Khalili souk, largely unchanged since the 14th century, to modern centers with the latest fashions. All the bounty of the East can be found there. Cairo is truly a shoppers paradise.
Cairo is served by Cairo International Airport. Public transportation is by a fast Metro, buses and taxis (an article all by itself).
Cairo weather is blistering hot in summer and mild in winter, though winter nights can be frosty.
Cairo population is 8,000,000 (2006)
20 is the international dialing code for Egypt
