Diet meals and snacks delivered to your home is a convenient option for losing weight.

Home delivery diets is one of the fasting growing segments in the weight loss industry. According to a recent research report, home delivery of prepared diet meals is worth approximately $1 billion. This is a rapidly growing market and it is expected to increase 3.7% in 2009 and 12-13% to 2012.

In 2006, the market for diet meals delivered to your home or workplace was worth approximately $800 million.

According to eDiets.com, in their annual report,  “the diet food home delivery market in 2008 is estimated at $1.5 billion and will grow 30% to $2 billion in 2010.” eDiet.com competes with NutriSystem and Jenny Craig in the diet meal delivery business.

Other players in the diet food delivery service or “home meal replacement” market include Medifast , Bistro MD, Chefs Diet, Diet-to-Go and Kosher Diet Delivery.

Sixty to seventy percent of clients are female, and customers usually stay on the plan from eight to ten weeks. The average monthly cost of a diet delivery plan is $726.

A diet meal delivery service is an ideal choice for people who want to lose weight and do not want or have time to shop and cook for themselves.
