Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia and the country’s largest city.
Ljubljana was first settled around 2000 BC. About 50 BC, the Romans built a military encampment that later became a settlement called Iulia Aemona. The modern name for the city appears for the first time around 1140 AD.
Today Ljubljana is a charming town full of galleries, museums and young artists. Old Ljubljana is the city’s historical district. It has the city hall, monuments, and well-preserved old buildings and churches, a picturesque blend of Medieval, Baroque and Art Nouveau masterpieces. While Ljubljana is certainly one of the smaller European capitals, many larger cities could be envious of all that it has.
Bustling with young people, Ljubljana is city of “happening.” Many international festivals for film, theater, various exhibitions and concerts, are staged with English speaking audiences in mind. It offers culture, great restaurants and clubbing, all in a compact space. The town boasts the most relaxing atmosphere of all European capitals and offers an excellent quality of life. Ljubljana is relatively a small town, which you may feel like seeing for a ‘day trip’ then winding up moving there for good.

Ljubljana is served by Ljubljana Airport. Public transportation is by bus which is Ljubljana’s only current means of public transportation. Renting a car is also an option.
