Why vacation or holiday in Arkansas?
Are you looking for a place for that family vacation?
Well, Arkansas has plenty of tourist attractions which are family friendly. Explore Little Rock’s River Market District as well as the Arkansas Arts Center or one of the state’s 52 State Parks.
The Hot Springs area has a number of attractions which include Ouachita National Forest and Lake Hamilton. If you are a nature lover, you will enjoy hiking along the beautiful Mississippi River or the high trails of the Ozark Mountains. And if you like a Western atmosphere, visit Fort Smith, a genuine Wild West town.
Little Rock will give you a taste of big city attractions and night life. Little Rock was the starting point for ex-president Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign in 1991. While it has a rocky past in terms of racial issues, Little Rock is now the political, geographical and economic centre of Arkansas. It has nice outdoor markets and museums that will interest most visitors.
Then there are the Ozark Mountains. This region is one the fastest developing rural areas in the USA. While a very popular retirement destination, it is rapidly becoming more of a tourist attraction. Eureka Springs, a Victorian style spa, and Mountain View State Park are just the two of the attractions in the area.
Arkansas is part of the Deep South, along with what that historically implies. But now the state has become quite cosmopolitan and accepting of all.
And, oh yes, while vacationing in Arkansas, try to find your own personal diamond. When you go to the Crater of Diamonds State Park to dig for diamonds you get to keep what you find. It’s a real diamond mine and the only one in the world open to the public. Some large stones have been found there.
Just let me look up my ring size.
