Stretching from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River, Tennessee’s major regions can provide a variety of vacation experiences.
Eastern Tennessee has both mountain wilderness and sophsticated fun with Knoxville, Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains anchoring the region. Knoxville, a World Fair host city, has great museums, excellent restaurants and nightlife to balance out the days spent in mountain wilderness.
Middle Tennessee basically means Nashville, Country Music and Grand Ol’ Oprey. The Opry has seen just about every top country performer in history graced her stages, from Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Jr. to Garth Brooks and Carrie Underwood. But not all is about Country Music. Don’t forget the Adventure Science Center. Originally established as the Children’s Museum of Nashville in 1944, the Adventure Science Center is one of the best places in the area to visit if you are traveling with the children.
West Tennessee offers many more recreational activities. The city of Memphis is found there. Known as the Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock n’ Roll, the city features countless music-oriented attractions, including Graceland, The Stax Museum of American Soul, Sun Studio and the Beale Street Entertainment District.
Whatever region you are in, the people of Tennessee have a certain charm and flavor known throughout the world as ‘Southern hospitality.’ Whether you’re looking for a place to get in on the action or get away from it all and do some fishing, Tennessee has got a place for you.
