Why vacation in Virginia?
“Virginia Is For Lovers.” Ok, now that we have the official slogan out of the way, we can find what else Virginia is for.
However, Virginia ‘is’ a history lover’s dream, once a part of the Cherokee lands and even played a role in the invention of iced tea. A visitor may walk in the footsteps of our nation’s founding fathers at Colonial Williamsburg, explore the first permanent settlement at Jamestown or visit the historic battlefields at Yorktown Victory Center. One may also enjoy the four-season splendor of the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains with miles of scenic hiking trails, indoor and outdoor activities, National Parks, National Recreation Areas and forested wilderness. Visit the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond or meander about Alexandria’s various historical sites and take in Virginia Beach on a sunny summer day. Virginia’s a great playground for kids and adults both. And speaking of Virginia Beach, it is a classic beach town, full of summer fun and miles of smooth, white sandy beaches. But even the most die-hard beach lover needs a break from the sun. Touring the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is a wonderful way to spend the day. There are theme parks, whitewater rafting, riding trails, wilderness camping, fishing, golfing, Virginia really does have it all.
With so much to choose from, you’ll find endless ways to make Virginia your own. And if it takes more than one trip to do it all, they’ll be happy to welcome you back.
