Why vacation or take a holiday in Hong Kong?

The fact that Hong Kong is one of the most exciting cities in the world should be enough.  But…

Add a spectacular beauty and exotic night life, endless shopping, a nightly city wide sound and light show, a skyline any other city would die for, a base for magnificent day trips, and, well, you might be getting the picture.  Did I mention endless shopping?

In August 1842, the Chinese yielded to the British after The Opium War and the two signed the Treaty of Nanjing, which officially gave Hong Kong to the British.

In 1997, Hong Kong was returned to China as the first special administrative region to be “One country, two systems.”

Hong Kong can accomodate travelers with five star hotels to facilities for backpackers.

A handful of major tourist attractions have opened in in recent years and cater to visitors of all kinds, including family and leisure visitors as well as those interested in green tourism. These include Hong Kong Wetland Park and the Ngong Ping 360.  The Hong Kong Disneyland was opened in September 2005 and Phase II of A Symphony of Lights was launched in December 2005.

And if you are a museum lover, all I can say is that Hong Kong has museums by the dozens.  The four main exhibitions are the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Science Museum, Space Museum, and Museum of History.  Hong Kong also has one of the world’s most obscure museums.  It is the Museum of Tea Ware which is dedicated to a collection of Chinese tea ware.  Admission is free.

Hong Kong has a population of 6.9 million people, and is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

World’s best dim sum too.
