Many years ago, after a rustic tour from Lhasa to the west, out of Tibet to Kashgar with a flight to Urumchi, the final dinner was in the very large restaurant of a high-rise hotel. Suddenly we were surprised when the group at a long table broke into song: "Happy Birthday to You" in Chinese.

As to "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow", (last line in the Quezi), on Germany TV I saw a bit about the Queen's visit to Guildhall. After the luncheon, "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow" was sung in her honour by those present.

Raymond...Here's a link to the papers held in the local archives in Hammersmith:

http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/Leisure_and_Culture/Libraries/Archives/23387_Newspapers.asp

That might get you started, and if you contact the Archives directly, they can probably offer some more insight as to popularity, and may have earlier papers as well.

Here in the UK (Brighton & Hove), I can access several Archives courtesy of my local library.

All I need is my Library Number and Voila! I can access The Times Digital Archive among others.

However, I have also often used Uclue.

Both are well worth checking.

My pleasure.
If you want to go to the Gotham, just ask if you can take the elevator up to go on a balcony over 46th Street. (Customer computers are in the back, can show here why you are curious.) An erstwhile native doesn't need to stay in Midtown.
Better to spend for a beer at Clarke's. Is the price of a subway fare a fair inflation index: 50 years ago 15 cents now $2.50? (but seniors get half price with the right Metrocard). But the quality has improved immensely: cleaner, quieter, air conditioned.
Here is another Holdout worth visiting, if you care even a little about art:

Lovely article. Though I live in Washington DC now, I grew up in NYC and have a special affection for the city. I never gave much thought, though, to the holdouts until reading about some of these better known examples. On my next visit, I'll have to check out (maybe even stay in!) the Gotham Hotel.

Thanks for sparking a bit of my own nostalgia, myo.
